Pukkelpop Festival: Charlotte de Witte makes statement regarding technical difficulties
As she was set to close the mainstage at Pukkelpop in what was personally a very important and monumental set for Charlotte de Witte, she was sadly hit by many technical difficulties. ‘The disappointment is huge. It’s extremely painful to see something fall apart in front of your eyes, out of your control. My whole team was heartbroken and in tears,’ she said.
For any artist, technical difficulties whilst on stage are a complete nightmare, but even more so when its not only an important set but also as the act closing the mainstage at a festival. Sadly, Charlotte de Witte knew this situation all too well during her closer set at Pukkelpop in her native country of Belgium, where she was performing last night (20 August). Ahead of her set, she has shared that both her and her team had been working on something special and that it would be ‘quite something.’
Due to perform for a crowd of 50,000 people that night during the festival’s third day, it all went wrong and she shared her perspective in a lengthy statement, part of which she states:
“I was very confident about the set I had prepared for you guys. I knew which direction I wanted to go to bring you a set fit for a main stage, while respecting the club culture I love so much. Sadly, there were many technical issues disrupting the story I wanted to tell. Four sound cuts, a change of mixer mid set, non functioning effects unit.. A nightmare. The disappointment is huge. It’s extremely painful to see something fall apart in front of your eyes, out of your control. My whole team was heartbroken and in tears.”
Although Pukkelpop have not yet made a statement of their own, they did share Charlotte’s post to their Instagram Story:
Taking it in good spirits, although the disappointment would have been immeasurable, she stated that she would also be back to attend the festival today in support of her husband Enrico Sangiuliano and also Oscar & The Wolf. We hope that there will be even more Charlotte de Witte performances at Pukkelpop in the future to make up for this!
