Giolì & Assia drop music video for new single, 'Playing Chess'

The Italian Electronic Duo Giolì & Assia has captured the hearts of fans worldwide with its glorious and delightful sound. Their new track ‘Playing Chess’ is a piece of Depeche Mode-style electronica. It was initially inspired by Florence & the Machine’s track ‘Shake It Out’.

Out on Ultra Records, the record begins with blissful vocals. They are glistening and capture the listener right away. I am a big fan of the groovy drums throughout. Gioli has uptempo drums and it is complemented by captivating piano chords. The push-pull effect of the instrumentation reflects the contrastingly introspective nature of the record.

The bass throughout is gritty and made for the big stage. I can see this one going off live. It is almost hypnotic in a way. There is a ton of emotion throughout. Giolì is a masterful pianist who has been honing her craft since the age of 8. Assia commands the vocals for the duo and has guitar across their new album.

Following the release of recent singles ‘Fire Hell and Holy Water’, ‘Silence’, and ‘I’ll be fine, the 4th single brings us closer to the LP, set for release on September 9th. The Duo will be touring North America this Fall.
